TMR Road Works Notification – Watermain Relocation, Tully
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will begin early works in Tully as part of preparations for the Bruce Highway (Dean Road to Tully High School) Wide Centre Line Treatment project.
The project will deliver an upgrade of the signalised Dean Road intersection, road and shoulder widening, the installation of wide centre line treatment, vegetation removal, culvert extensions, drainage and edge treatments as well as an upgrade of signs, guideposts and line marking.
In preparations for these works, RoadTek has been contracted to relocate a watermain near the Bruce Highway between Dean Road and Tully High School. The watermain will be moved up to 20 metres closer to the road corridor boundary.
This relocation will involve:
- Potential tree and vegetation removal
- Temporary access impacts, including partial closures
- Direct engagement with affected property owners and businesses
DTMR will ensure every effort is made to minimise disruption during the works. RoadTek will contact directly impacted stakeholders prior to any access changes.
Construction Details:
- Start date: Monday 4 August 2025
- Completion: Mid-November 2025 (weather permitting)
- Work hours: Monday to Friday, 6am to 6pm
Traffic Changes:
- Temporary speed limit reductions
- Restricted access near Dean Road and Ramsay Road intersections when required
- Traffic controllers on site as needed
- Variable Message Signs (VMS) in place to alert motorists of changed conditions
These early works are in preparation for the broader Bruce Highway safety upgrade planned for construction in 2026.
