Planned Hazard Reduction Burn – Dallachy Aerodrome Thursday 14 August

Back

A planned hazard reduction burn of approximately 45 hectares at Dallachy Aerodrome will be conducted this Thursday 14 August by Cassowary Coast Regional Council, Girringun Aboriginal Corporation and Rural Fire Service and QPWS.

The burn will help restore grassland, maintain habitat health, and reduce bushfire risk to the aerodrome and nearby assets. Only selected areas will be burnt to create a mix of burnt and unburnt land for improved bushfire response and environmental outcomes.

Smoke & Safety

  • Smoke may be visible from the Bruce Highway, Cardwell, and Kennedy Valley.
  • Residents should close windows and doors; those with respiratory conditions should keep medication nearby.
