UPDATE: Mourilyan Road Stormwater Relining Works – Saturday 31 May 2025

Cassowary Coast Regional Council wishes to advise an update to the Mourilyan Road Stormwater Relining Works, originally scheduled to commence on 29 May 2025.

Due to ongoing wet weather, the contractor now needs to temporarily close Mourilyan Road (between Heavey Street and Carmel Street) on Saturday 31 May (tomorrow) to allow for the safe installation of a hose and pump system to remove water from the stormwater pipe during the relining process.

What to Expect on Saturday 31 May

  • Mourilyan Road will be closed to through traffic.

  • A detour will be in place via Clancy Street and Carmel Street.

  • Access to the East Innisfail State School pick-up/drop-off zone will remain closed, as previously advised.

  • Please follow all signage and directions from traffic controllers on-site.

Reminder:

This project involves renewing approximately 100 metres of deteriorated stormwater infrastructure beneath Mourilyan Road and Coronation Drive. Works are expected to be completed by 3 June 2025, weather permitting.
