UPCOMING WORKS – CASUARINA PARK, SOUTH MISSION BEACH
Council wishes to inform the community that the shelter at Casuarina Park, South Mission Beach, will be removed and replaced due to structural issues.
Demolition is scheduled to commence on Thursday, 10 July 2025 and conclude Saturday, 12 July 2025, weather permitting.
Recent assessments have determined that the shelter is no longer safe for public use. While this well-loved space has been used for countless family and community gatherings and events, safety must remain our top priority.
We acknowledge the shelter's significance to our community and understand that its removal will be felt by many.
Council is committed to ensuring that a safe, functional, and welcoming structure is in place as soon as possible. The procurement process for the replacement shelter has been completed, and future development dates will be announced once confirmed.
A new 12x8 metre shelter with new barbeque and picnic facilities will be installed in place of the existing structure. This updated, durable design will continue to support community use and enhance the park experience for all.
Pictured below is the existing shelter and a visual rendering of the replacement structure.
Council will be removing the above shelter commencing Thursday,10 July weather permitting.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we carry out this necessary upgrade.
