Bigger Support for Better Opportunities - Council’s Community Grants & Support Program is Now Open
Council’s refreshed Community Grants Program is now open with increased funding and expanded support for local clubs and community groups.
Key updates to the program include:
- Community Projects and Initiatives funding increased from $5,000 to $7,500
- Sports Club and Active Recreation funding increased from $250 to $400, with a broader range of eligible costs
- Mayor’s Emergency Fund renamed to the Mayor’s Discretionary Event Fund, with funding increased to $1,200
Mayor Teresa Millwood welcomed the updates to Council’s grants program, highlighting the positive impact for communities across the Cassowary Coast.
“By supporting our volunteer-led clubs and groups, we’re helping to build more connected, resilient communities,” Mayor Millwood said.
“With increased funding, these organisations will have greater opportunities to deliver meaningful projects that make a real difference where it matters most.”
The following grant programs Now Open:
- Mayor’s Discretionary Event (August to April)
- Youth Assistance (STEAM and Sport – August to April)
- Round One - Community Projects and Initiatives (closes 7 September)
- Sports Club and Active Recreation (August to April)
Opening 8 August
- Community Infrastructure Grants (closes 8 September)
To support grant applicants, Council will run four information sessions between 8 to 13 August in Innisfail, Mission Beach, Tully and Cardwell.
